Introduction to Remote Sensing: Land Cover Change Analysis in QGIS

Course typeIntroduction to Remote Sensing: Land Cover Change Analysis in QGIS
DescriptionThe course will tackle the fundamental concepts and theories of remote sensing with focus on optical remote sensing and land cover change analysis. Lecture part will start from the definition of remote sensing and discuss the different components of remote sensing including how the energy from the source interacts with the different earth objects and surface features. The lecture will then focus on optical remote sensing and use of satellite images, including the different techniques of image classification for land cover analysis. The hands-on part will focus on using the Semi-automatic Classification Plug-in (SCP), a QGIS plug-in developed for remote sensing purposes. The exercises will cover the installation of plugin up to land cover classification and change analysis using different scenario in SCP.
